National Elections Commission

Monrovia, Liberia

This project serves as the headquarters for the National Elections Commission of the Republic of Liberia—a 22,000 square foot, two-story office building designed to reflect the ideals of strength, transparency, and democratic governance. The facility also includes a 6,000 square foot area reserved for future expansion. Every aspect of the project was designed to convey a strong national identity and to support the administrative needs of the Commission while creating a lasting civic landmark.

ARCHITECTURAL SYMBOLISM REFLECTS UNITY & PRIDE AT BUILDING APPROACH

A key feature of the site is the Monumental Plaza, located at the building’s front approach. It includes two wide, stepped walkways lined with the flags of Liberia’s fifteen counties. At the top of these steps stands a pedestal monument, with a prominent flagpole flying the national flag of Liberia, creating a symbolic and ceremonial entry. Behind the plaza sits the Wall of Symbolism—a concave, curved architectural element that envelops the entrance and anchors the building’s front façade. Together, these elements work to reinforce the building’s message of national unity and democratic commitment.
