Lantana Police Annex Building
Lantana, FL
The Lantana Police Annex project is a compelling example of historic preservation paired with forward-thinking sustainability. Centered on the adaptive reuse and renovation of the former Lions Club building, originally built in the 1950s, the project began with a comprehensive assessment of the site and structure to determine how best to preserve its architectural integrity while modernizing it for contemporary use.
HISTORIC RENOVATION MERGING PRESERVATION WITH PERFORMANCE
Guided by a commitment to both heritage and environmental stewardship, the design team developed preliminary concepts, moved through design development, and produced full construction drawings used for permitting and bidding. A key goal was to retain defining historical elements—such as the original 1950s structure and design cues inspired by the 1920s town hall arches, which were part of an earlier civic vision that was never fully realized.

A portion of the renovation funding came from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant program, with the intention of showcasing how small commercial and institutional buildings can successfully integrate modern energy-saving systems and sustainable design strategies. The result is a public safety annex that not only meets the operational needs of the Town of Lantana but also serves as a demonstration of how preservation and performance can coexist.
This revitalized civic asset respects the town’s architectural past while offering a more efficient, future-ready facility to support the community’s policing and public service needs.
