The Northwood Gymnasium and Streetscape project represents a major investment in community recreation and neighborhood enhancement. Anchored by a newly constructed gymnasium, the facility includes a full-size basketball and multifunction court, as well as a concession area and administrative offices—designed to support athletic programming and community events.
PROJECT COMPLETED DESPITE HURRICANE IMPACTS AND SITE CONSTRAINTS
Beyond the gymnasium itself, West Construction partnered with the City to transform the surrounding area into a welcoming and pedestrian-friendly environment. The streetscape component included new curbs and sidewalks, shade pavilions, decorative paving, and landscaping, all aimed at enhancing safety, accessibility, and aesthetic appeal.
Despite challenges posed by overhead utility interferences and the impact of multiple hurricanes in 2004, the project was successfully completed through the combined focus and determination of the City and West Construction. Today, the Northwood Gymnasium and its accompanying streetscape stand as a testament to community resilience and revitalization.
