A bold step toward resilient and sustainable public infrastructure, Fire Station 78 in Tamarac stands as a model of modern emergency facility design. Located on a 1.15-acre site, this project involved the complete demolition of the original station and all site components, followed by the construction of a 9,400-square-foot, LEED-certified fire station that reflects both environmental responsibility and regional preparedness.
LEED-CERTIFIED DESIGN MEETS HURRICANE-READY PERFORMANCE
The new station is a hardened structure, engineered in compliance with the Florida Building Code Section 1620, designed for High-Velocity Hurricane Zones and classified as both Risk Category II and IV, ensuring the facility remains operational during extreme weather events. Its construction reflects best practices in structural durability, energy efficiency, and occupant safety.
Beyond its performance standards, the station contributes to Tamarac’s cultural landscape through the integration of a public art installation, commissioned via the Tamarac Public Art Program.
