Pompano Beach Fire Station #61

Pompano Beach, FL

Fire Station 61 in Pompano Beach, Florida, is a bold addition to the city's emergency services infrastructure—delivering modern performance wrapped in resilient design. The 16,325-square-foot, two-story, four-bay fire station replaces an older facility on the same site, which was demolished as part of a comprehensive design-build scope that included a temporary operations trailer to maintain service continuity.

BUILT FOR RESILIENCE IN A COASTAL ENVIRONMENT

The structure is built from concrete masonry units (CMU) with a painted stucco finish and topped with a durable standing seam metal roof on engineered metal trusses—offering both aesthetic appeal and long-term resilience in a coastal environment. The project also features all-new electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems designed to current energy codes and standards.

In addition to the main structure, extensive site development was undertaken. This included utility upgrades (drainage, water, sewer, irrigation), new lighting, ADA-compliant sidewalks, driveways, and access roads. Landscaping features native tree palms and groundcover plantings for both form and function, while overhead utilities were evaluated for potential conversion to underground systems, aligning with the city’s long-term infrastructure goals.

The facility is designed for mixed-use occupancy, accommodating business, storage, and residential functions, and is fully sprinklered as a Type VB construction. The project was developed with sustainability in mind and is designed to meet the requirements for LEED certification. With a code-compliant alarm system integrated to meet Broward County standards, Fire Station 61 sets a new benchmark for operational readiness, safety, and design excellence in municipal facilities.
