South Bay Railroad Cottage
South Bay, FL
The South Bay Railroad Cottage project was a meticulous restoration and relocation of a 100-year-old bunkhouse originally used by workers on the historic Flagler Railroad. Located in downtown South Bay, the cottage was carefully disassembled, moved, and reconstructed at a nearby RV park—preserving a vital piece of local and transportation history.
HONORING FLORIDA’S CRAFTSMANSHIP THROUGH CAREFUL RESTORATION
What made this effort especially notable was the extensive reuse of original materials. Nearly every wood beam, siding board, and architectural element was salvaged and reincorporated into the final structure, ensuring the soul of the original cottage remained intact. The rebuilding process honored the integrity of early 20th-century Florida craftsmanship while discreetly introducing modern reinforcements to ensure longevity and stability.

More than just a renovation, the project represented a celebration of heritage—transforming a forgotten structure into a community landmark that speaks to the resilience and history of Florida’s railroad era.
