Maritime Office Building Demolition & Cargo Yard

Riviera Beach, FL

PROJECT INFORMATION

The Port of Palm Beach has redefined its operational landscape with the comprehensive demolition of the Maritime Office Building (MOB) and its transformation into a high-performance cargo yard. This complex, multi-phase project unfolded across a three-acre parcel, reinforcing the Port’s long-term strategy to increase freight handling capacity and streamline logistics.

REVITALIZING THE SITE WITH INDUSTRIAL-READY INFRASTRUCTURE

Initial work involved the meticulous abatement of asbestos and lead-based paint, followed by the full demolition of the MOB structure, including its foundation and select foundation piles. Adjacent hardscape, landscaped zones, lighting fixtures, and underground utilities were removed to make way for critical infrastructure upgrades.

The redevelopment scope included installation of new heavy-duty pavement designed for industrial cargo operations, alongside a complete overhaul of the electrical and telecommunications systems. Overhead lines were relocated underground through a newly constructed duct bank by an FPL-certified contractor, ensuring long-term resilience and improved site safety.

Additional utility work included modifications and installations of underground vaults, stormwater conveyance systems, potable waterlines, and the introduction of high-capacity electrical transformers and switchgear. To support 24/7 operations, high-mast lighting was installed to enhance visibility across the yard, and new perimeter fencing was erected to secure the site.
